KJo’s ‘Student Of The Year’

In true sense "the competition of life begins" for the three very adorable new comers of Bollywood Alia Bhatt, Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan! Karan Johar's recently released 'Student Of The Year’ is all about energy, zest, fun, entertainment, youth power, freshness, championship and friendship.

The movie talks about, how best friends turn into foes while chasing their dream to win the coveted trophy. The story is filmed in a flashback mode where the school mates meet each other ten years after the school, to meet their unwell dean Yogendra Vashisht (Rishi Kapoor) and remember their sweet & sour past and narrate the story to the audience.

Saint Teresa is the school where the rich kids become friends with the sincere and hardworking scholarship students. Rohan Nanda (Varun Dhawan) is the hot hunk of the school and Shanaya (Alia Bhatt) is his so-called girlfriend. The story changes its track when Abhimanyu (Siddharth Malhotra) makes an entry.
Dialogues, songs, music and the humour is the best topping of this recipe.
The movie is a full entertainment with fresh faces and new talents. Alia who hails from the Bhatt’s family have the perfect acting skills. Varun is confident and has given spontaneous performance throughout the film. Siddharth is calm yet competitive with his talent. But the show stealer is indisputably, Varun Dhawan for his appealing performance.
The introduction scenes of the threesome are different and unique with the support of old Hindi filmy songs and shows Karan’s love and passion for Hindi cinema!
Rishi Kapoor again plays an unusual role of a gay principal who has a soft corner for the sports coach Ronit Roy is just superb!

Karan Johar has altered the meaning of friendship with this movie, everyone is chasing for the desirable trophy but friendship is still a matter of fact for them.
SOTY is a great attempt by KJo. The story is new and quite unpredictable till the climax.
The songs are a hit, be it the Kukkad song or the Disco song, or the super romantic Ishq Wala Love! Among all the songs the most loved or enjoyed songs are Ishq Wala Love, Disco Deewane and Vele.....The choreography, picturization, music and lyrics are beautifully done by Karan Johar and the entire team of SOTY. The best part of Disco Deewane is to see Karan's lucky mascot and best friend Kajol shaking his leg with the trio, though we missed SRK in the same frame.

Watching Varun and Siddharth with their six-pack abs is a treat to the eyes.
The dialogue that every one mouths while exiting the theatre is "Cha mein oo ki matra, ta mein ee ki matra aur ya mein aa ki matra" ;-)
Most enjoyable moment of the movie is during the song ‘Raadha’ when Rishi Kapoor out mere jealousy throws his ‘dafli’ on the coach’s wife.

Karan Johar has really groomed the youngsters very well and have given them the enviable debut and a good film of their career. No doubt, but there is going to be a tuff fight at the award functions for best debutante this year!
Thumbs Up to the lovely trio, director KJo and the entire cast and crew for giving such a refreshing and happening movie....
Recommended not just to students but everyone....

Officially Saifeena!!

Marriages are made in heaven, is an obsolete now! We must say marriages are made in Bollywood, grand affair, glamour, fashion, media paparazzi and glitterati. Yes, one more and the most awaited marriage of the year took place yesterday at ‘Fortune Heights’. The nawab of Pataudi, Saif Ali Khan and one of the most glamorous and successful member of the Kapoor Khandaan, Kareena Kapoor tied the knot and did the “Qabool Hain” ceremony finally.

The wedding was simple yet a high profile occasion organised by the Khans and the Kapoors. Kareena looked beautiful and dazzled in designer friend Manish Malhotra’s outfits at every function. Saif looked like the desirable groom and the smart Nawab in his suits and safaris. Family members and close friends from B-town and non-filmy background shone at the venues and blessed the newlyweds.

The guest list was inevitable, but the surprise guest was Neetu Singh, who looked equally happy and excited about the Kapoor gal’s wedding. Saif’s daughter Sara looked gracious and son Ibrahim added to the charm! Though Sanjay Kapoor, Bebo’s brother-in-law gave a total miss to the wedding.  Shah Rukh Khan came to greet the couples but two other Khans of Bollywood were missing from the venue, Taj Mahal Hotel - Salman and Aamir.

I wish happiness, happiness and more happiness to the “Just Married” couples and hope they have a blissful life ahead. Kareena should now tattoo her hand with “KKK – Kareena Kapoor Khan”! J

Happy Birthday - Yash 'Romance' Chopra!!

The ‘King of Romance’ turns 80 today! He is the very talented filmmaker, director, screenwriter and a successful Bollywood producer- Yash Raj Chopra. His films talk about the real sense of romance, love, friendship, relationships; the healthy-wealthy and fun loving Punjabi families; beautiful locales and the beautiful heroines clad in chiffon sarees. He has given some huge hits to the industry like Kabhie Kabhie, Silsila, Deewar, Chandni, Lamhe, Darr, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil Toh Pagal Hai and Veer-Zaara.
Yashji’s production company, Yash Raj Films has given the best films to the Hindi Cinema. He has won many Filmfare and National Awards; in the year 2005 he was been honored with the Padma Bhushan Award. He is the first Indian to be honoured at BAFTA and the list continues....
With some successful actors like Shashi Kapoor,Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan and actresses like Sridevi, Hema Malini, Madhuri Dixit, Kajol, Juhi Chawla he made the cult classics of Hindi Cinema. Amitabh and Shashi Kapoor in Deewar and Kabhie Kabhie are still remembered for their breathtaking performances. How can one forget the eternal songs of Silsila and the romance between the sensuous Rekha and Sr. Bachchan, “KabhiKabhi mere dil khayal aata hai...tum hoti toh kaisa hota....” The vivacious Sridevigot total makeover with Chandni and Lamhe; numbers like “Mere Haatho mein naunau....” and “Tere Mere Hoton pe....” still top the songs list in every Indian phones.
Yash Chopra is the one who presented Shah Rukh Khan as an obsessed lover in Darr and again gave the audiences a true and passionate lover named ‘Rahul’ in DDLJ and DTPH.
Today even after ages, when he has again put his directors ‘hat on’ his fans have the same expectations;  are equally anticipated that they were many years ago....His Diwali release “Jab Tak Hain Jaan” starring SRK, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma is the talk of the tinsel town. Hope this movie does fireworks for him! This man really has something about him that every existing actor/actress and newcomers dream and aspires to be the “Yash Raj –Hero / Heroine”.
My best and warm wishes with the Magician of Bollywood, the Legend of Romantic films! May you continue to entertain us many more years and naturally keep winning our hearts with your effortless and commendable work.....!

What an alluring BARFI!!

Cinema Magic…….created after ages!!! Applause and salute to director Anurag Basu for attempting something so unlike the Bollywood films! Not ‘Kites’ but the sweet ‘BARFI’ has and will take him higher and higher and higher…..! With ‘BARFI’ he has revolutionized the meaning of Indian cinema. Talking about Ranbir Kapoor aka RK junior has definitely lived up to his name. Priyanka Chopra is just the perfect ‘Jhimil’ and has given an incredible performance. Ileana D’cruz – good debut and looks promising.

Breathtaking performances, great storyline, beautiful songs, the scenic Darjeeling – the film regales all this!  Jhimil and Barfi linger even after the movie. The Murphy boy doesn’t let you weep with that bright and cute smile on his charming face throughout the film.

BARFI is undoubtedly ‘classic’ and ‘beautiful’. Songs and lyrics are so meaningful with perfect picturization. Is it a ‘Love triangle’ or just ‘Love’ that the 3 characters share? The movie has entirely changed the concept, the perception of love……you will surely feel the need to be loved by someone like Barfi, Jhilmil or Shruti!

Would just say be BARFI and live your beautiful and precious life to the fullest….!
Take a bow..... Mr. Anurag Basu, Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra…. :-)

Only TIGER!!

Movie means entertainment and entertainment means SALMAN TIGER KHAN! Not just myself but every filmy banda is saying so.... Kabir Khan did have a story and concept behind this YRF movie but it was just not that important for this film – Ek Tha Tiger as the lead actor took away all the applause! All time blockbuster as declared by the critics and audiences, this is just the SK factor; Salman Khan or Salman-Katrina for few. The locations, songs, choreography, action, direction and screenplay everything is very different from any other Yash Raj or the Dabanng Khan film.

Katrina is truly magnificent with her dialogues action romance and her Hindi! “Jis mohabbat mein deewangi na ho, woh mohabbat hi nahi” every single person leaving the theatre was seen reciting this dialogue, the background score creates the aura in the cinema hall. Cuba, the most talked about place in the film is seen only in the song laapata and is terrifically shot. Mashallah created a rage with its release could have been way better with its choreography had it not been the YRF favourite Vaibhavi Merchant! Sajid - Wajid as music composers have done a good job again!

RAW and ISI were not that great but kind of kept the story going. Tiger and Zoya enthralled the audiences with their romance. The climax though was abrupt but back to back 3 shows were seen by fans plus non-fans of the handsome and most wanted Bodyguard. Yash Chopra has been famous and known for his romantic films and now every single being is awaiting the silver screen magic of his cinema, the love is in the air factor with his next venture starring King Khan, Katrina and Anushka. All the best, Sir! The stage is all yours....Lights Camera Action!
